Homecoming Cookbook

In honour of the Homecoming of the R.M. of Mossey River held in Fork River between July 19-21, 1996, a 500-page community cookbook was published by a 6-person cookbook committee. Funded by the Fork River Community Hall, the committee received almost 1,600 recipes which they trimmed down to [TBD].

The six members of the cookbook committee were Emily Pylypchuk (co-ordinator), Marlene Hafenbrak, Kathy McGill, Phyllis Momotiuk, Stella Monchka, and Angela Pylypchuk.

In addition to the committee, thanks were given to Kathy McGill for her artwork, Evelyn Remple (D & E Computer Services) for helping set up the artwork and lettering, and Michelle Monchka for helping with the type.

Mossey River School was changed to Fork River School in 1962. Borden School was formerly known as Sobiecki School until it was changed in 1944. Ferley and Mowat Schools were transferred to Dauphin Ochre in 1947.

There are 32 recipes connected to the Mowat School and 55 connected to the North Lake School with 85 unique recipes split between them. A separate page with an index of these specific recipes will be created for these schools.

I will also publish a full index of recipes from the cookbook by sub-section and will link to those blog posts. At this time, I do not plan to transcribe the full cookbook.
